112075

Location: Flexible

The opportunity:

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Planning and Performance Reporting (PPR) team in a new role focused on delivering increased insight to our senior stakeholders. The PPR team sits at the heart of PPM (Planning and Performance Management) and at the leading edge of the UK’s financial performance management, encompassing both the UK P&C and Life businesses.  We are a dynamic and agile team that thrives in dealing directly with the UK CFO, CEO and senior leaders within the UK and at Group.  We are a diverse team from a number of backgrounds, and pride ourselves on our energy, drive, thirst for learning and high standards.

We are looking for an ambitious candidate to act as the Strategic Planning analyst and bring a deeper analytical focus to driving one view of performance across the UK. The insight provided will support the PPM inputs to the UK Executive Committee, the Virtuous Circle and the Business Unit Review (BUR) processes with a focus on bringing a lot more depth to analysis for strategic decision making. The role is a key pivotal role in how PPM helps drive performance in the business going forward and will work closely with underwriting, reserving & claims.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the PPM analysis of emerging hot topics by undertaking and chairing mini projects, each ending in discussions at the UK Executive Committee to help them set their commercial and financial strategy to drive improved results.
  • Liaising with Business Partners, Actuarial, Underwriting and Claims teams to gather insight and work collaboratively on identifying trends and recommendations.
  • Provide an outside in view by monitoring market trends and including an external perspective in analysis.
  • Input to UK Business Unit Reviews (BUR) processes working closely with senior stakeholders within Finance and the wider business.
  • Support the creation, implementation and then on-going delivery of the UK 18-month rolling financial forecast. The rolling forecast will support the strategic planning of the UK business and help set targets and ambition for the full planning process.
  • Aid in the creation of development of ad hoc financial models and analysis to assist and support initiatives.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement mindset and support other PPR activities as required.
  • Role reports into the Head of Planning & Performance Reporting.

What are we looking for?

  • A proven track record with deep insight or advanced analytical thinking
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and a high level of agility.
  • Energetic and inquisitive mind with a strong desire to jump in, get involved, and make a contribution
  • A proven quick learner and take ownership of tasks as appropriate.
  • A good understanding of the insurance financial performance framework is desirable but not essential.
  • You will have experience in building and managing relationships with varied stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Strong communication skills and can build a message for several different stakeholders including Executive Committee members.
  • You will have the ability to see the bigger picture as well as maintain excellent attention to detail.
  • The role offers excellent opportunity to progress and develop.
